This table will ideally help you find somewhere in Kalamazoo to eat and drink after hours. I have verified most of these claims put forward in phone conversations, but I make no guarantees.

Kalamazoo RESA Bond Vote

Submitted by Nathan on Tue, 04/24/2007 - 7:04pm.

May 8 2007 - 8:00am

Etc/GMT-4
Hey. Just thought I’d remind all y’all to hit the polls on Tuesday, May 8th. It involves Holden’s former incubation location, Croyden Avenue School, so I have a bit of a personal connection. I’m going to edit the official documentation on this here thing, because I like to editorialize and fix errors in meaning, intent and grammar. So, from the horse’s mouth (roughly):

What is Croyden Avenue School, and why do we need one?

  • Croyden Avenue School serves students ages 2-26 with sever disabilities and autism.
  • Enrollment at Croyden has increased in the last five years and is expected to continue growing. The current building is currently at capacity.
  • The learning environment at Croyden is not suited to the specific needs of its students.
  • The Young Adult and Early Childhood programs are also experiencing increased enrollment. These programs would move to a renovated Croyden Avenue building, where they would have adequate space for their enrollment.

Kalamazoo RESA will ask voters to consider a bond proposal to complete three new vital building projects.

  1. Build a new Croyden  Avenue School for students with autism and severe cognitive and physical disabilities from Kalamzoo County.
  2. Renovate the current Croyden building to house the Young Adult and Early Childhood Programs.
  3. Renovate the Service Center to accomodate increasing services to local school districts.

Please Note: The average home in Kalamazoo County has a market value of $135,000. If you owned that house, you would be paying an additional $27 per year, if this passes.

I love you, and you will never fit in.

 VOTE!

Big Old Westnedge Hill Garage Sale

Submitted by Nathan on Tue, 04/24/2007 - 6:40pm.

May 5 2007 - 8:00am
May 5 2007 - 2:00pm

Hey everyone. Looks like the 5-Oh de Mayo will be a red letter day for all. We gots the big-ass Westnedge Hill Neighborhood Garage Sale happening on the same day as the Question Mark Benefit Show. If you have not attended before, it’s like a street fair, but kind of suburban-y. Weird finds are guaranteed. Minivan not required.

Please note that Holden and Daisy will be selling lemonade to random strangers, as they have done for the past four years. This year, though, they have announced that they will be donating a portion of their profits to the following causes:

Holden: Question Mark
Daisy: ASPCA

Drink accordingly.

I will see y’all there. Stop by the kegerator early for some pre-show get-a-long, and remember, those Coleman foldable chairs won’t last long.
