forum ettiquette

i know this was on the previous forum but could someone refresh my memory as to why it's not cool to use real names on the internet?

I think it's totally cool.

Basically, people want anonymity. They don't want their names searched for by their family, boss, etc. on Google. It'll lead them here, where they can see all the wild nonsense they blab about.

Also, when I'm doing things like saying that The Corner Bar has one of the best waitresses in the whole universe (don't know her name, but she's the one with short black hair, big eyes, nice rack, etc.), the owners of that place will find my post. So, I better say something nice. That's kind of stifling.

Of course, I'm free to say something awful about people if I want to and so are you.
