Country music, Cumulus stations and false consciousness

I don't know which is the worse in the following story:

The fact that there are so many country music fans that demographically - according to their socio-economic levels, get fucked by this current administration moreso than most (yet continually vote these shithogs into office) - or, the poor Dixie Chicks who got pilloried for speaking their minds by these same ignorant fucks, OR the goodamned Cumulus radio stations around the US who shitcanned their djs for ignoring the "boycott" against playing the Dixie Chicks.

How is the right wing country music different from the right wing media machine as a whole?  ALL commercial radio is conservative now (it always was behind the scenes, but now it really is up front as well).

Heh, don'tcha all go thinkin i sit around listening to country music now. It's one of my least fave genres. I agree with the writer above about Dwight Yokoam but I'm guessing he doesn't get played much these days? I DON'T listen to commercial radio of any sort …at least not on a steady basis. That wasn't the point of my making a mention of the Dixie Chicks article. It was to the obvious effect that Senior mentioned: the problem is so obvious now.

Whether its right wing or left wing, my problem with modern day country music is that is has gone pop and is totally suburband.  Do you think Shania Twain has even been on a farm or rode in a tractor?  Secondly folks like Yoakam, Marty Stuart, and Ricky Scaggs(who mostly does bluegrass these days), are not getting played on radio because they go back to the roots when country music was real.

I don't think it's relevant whether Shania Twain has ever been on a farm. This is a style of music, a genre, and, you know, the heart (or ear) wants what it wants. Like Freddy Fortune said, "I've never actually played in a garage." What kind of upbringing would Richard have had for Dr. Xeron and the Moogulators to exist, if you follow that line of thinking?

That being said, my problem with modern country music is that I just can't get enough of it!

That’s cuz you’re a redneck woman! And we’re glad we’re not all California girls! Honestly the whole neu country is just a reflexive reactionary thing. it’s the hick honkey equivalent of being a hard-ass mothafuggin’ gangsta. it’s B.S. it’s phony. it’s an overreactive defensive, willfully ignorant posture adapted by people who for some reason genuinely believe that some coterie of ‘elites” is examining their every gesture. In turn, the overreacting people in question inflate what makes them feel insecure in a display akin to gorilla twig-tossing and ground-slapping, an act best personified in the works of Brooks and DUnn.

I may be repeatin myself but the whole modern day country music scene(like top 40) is all about trends and fashion.
