EMI has sold the famous Capitol tower to a real estate firm in NYC. This is the 50th anniversary of the tower that was built to look like a stack of records with a needle on top.
Couldnt find the name of the firm but I thought I would pass this along just the same

woah.
I wanna live in it.
I don't want it to sellllll.....I wanna driiiiiive it.
light atop the tower
... blinks so as to spell out "Hollywood" in Morse code!
According to the Both Sides Now website chat board, the tower's been sold, but EMI is leasing the building for another ten years, so the facilities should remain intact for a while.
Years ago, when F&M did a tour of the West Coast, Maltese got up at a crazy early hour the Friday morning after we'd arrived in L.A. to shove promo sheets into the newspapers waiting outside the Capitol tower doors for the folks who worked inside. Seeing as you'll find no swirl-labelled singles or rainbow-bordered LP labels adorning any F&M product, the ploy must not have worked. Can't call us fuckin' sellouts tho'!
