So how’d everybody fare the storm last night? Bat Guano seemed to indicate that some people were having basement flooding issues. We were silly geese and tried to take off for dinner in Fennville, despite the onslaught of weather beginning before we even left the house. Looking at the radar, we thought we’d drive through and out of it. We didn’t really plan on the hail/borderline tornado around Cooper that had us cowering roadside and scanning the area for ditches in which to HIDE. Once it slowed down, we decided to plow on ahead (figuring we’d be heading north and the storms were heading south). Our way to Plainwell was blocked by a gigantic tree covering the whole road. B Avenue was blocked by a giant tree covering the whole road. We didn’t even want to TRY D Ave, knowing how much floodwater we’d already forged and knowing how deep and dippy D Avenue is. Yoinks! The Riverview viaduct was predictably flooded, but moreso than I have ever seen—it had swallowed two cars, and a man standing nearby informed us that the water had already receded considerably. Yowsa!

Powerless
We lost power over at Chez Criswell around 6:30 last night — estimated repair time according to auto-Consumer’s is Saturday, 11 PM. Blah! Livin’ it up LHOTP-style!
These are the final days.
These are the final days. REPENT!
The Creek
Lost power, still out. Lightening struck a telephone pole next door and burned the top off. 3 lines snapped.
Almost couldn’t get home from Dad’s house due to flooded streets. 10 minute trip took 45. Got a big branch on our garage, but not sure where it came from, as no tree lurks nearby.
Don’t accept the mark of the beast! Hope to go in the first wave of rapture. If not, eat rat meat and stay hidden until you have a chance to beg forgiveness from Morgan Freeman!
A delightful evening!
That bit about the branch from no where gave me hope, and scared me at the same time.
We were safely seated in Martini’s when the real fun began. I had a nice street view, where I could watch Westnedge traffic merge to the center lane, as both outside lanes were totally flooded. Noted to self, "flip flops are not good rain shoes", as pedestrians tried to cross the street. Chatted with the Inkster crew, who were also dining at another table. When we went out to car, it was parked in about a foot of water, but drove away safely. Tried to buy new sneakers for Herb on the western, high side of town, but failed. Later, wandered out to the GT, to chat away our worries.
The entire time, I was convinced the huge dead branch on our maple that we’ve recently tried to have trimmed (they rejected it because it was too dangerous!!) was falling on the garage that we are currently having painted. Hence, the hope / worry. I was hoping for a second that it could blow somewhere else, like Tree’s magical garage branch. But then, I was worried about the usual laws of gravity.
I heard about the flooding
I heard about the flooding that Kzoo got yesterday, crazy and scary. Could be the work of THRUSH. Hopefully everyone is ok and will have power back real soon.
Thrush?
