VOTE for Kalamazoo County Schools Millage

Etc/GMT-5

As many of you already know, the citizenry of Kalamazoo County will be voting on May 6, 2008 to renew a millage that provides funding to all schools in Kalamazoo County. I will not ramble on here about how important this is or why you should vote to support this millage. However, I will give you a bit of insight into the impact losing this funding would have on one school district, the one currently teaching my children. Read through the KPS budget presentation PDF that I have attached to this post to see the stark contrast between a projected budget with the millage intact and a projected budget with a loss of funding from the millage.

You can find much more detailed information at the Citizens for KPS Web site.

Again, I urge all of you to please vote this upcoming Tuesday.

Thank you.

Tom and I voted. Pretty low turn out. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Passed! Yay!

From wwmt.com: "In Kalamazoo County, a millage renewal passed. It affects nine school districts from Gull Lake to Vicksburg. Taxpayers voted yes to paying $93 a year. It passed with 57 percent of votes. The money means more than $300 per student." Thanks to those who helped pass this renewal.
