What Was the Name of that Cable Access Show?

I was watching this cable access video this morning, when a very dim memory of a sweet rap show on Kalamazoo Cable Access popped into my brain. What was that one called? I know you folks can help an old man out. While you're thinking about that, please enjoy this film.

THA FLOW ZONE!!!!

The Flow Zone was hysterical.

It started out being really lame white boys from Portage trying to be super down, but they put the call out for others to come challenge them to RAP BATTLE and suddenly the studio was FULL of REAL LIVE BLACK KIDS who were ready to nervously throw down some freestyle and make fun of the cocky lil' jerks that started the show ON CAMERA.

Vengeance can be so funny when it's in the form of a word or dance battle! Jets!  Sharks!  Go!  Crazy!

The same kids that started the Flow Zone used to have some other cable access "comedy" show that was flat-out mean-spirited, so I enjoyed watching them get their butts handed to them.

I've tried googling it in the past with no luck.

what was the name of the guy

what was the name of the guy who did a weekly comic for the western herald and had a show on cable access?  he had live bands on there....i think twister or the sleestacks played on it.

ha!

J*hn Fountain?  He was annoying.  I totally forgot that he had a show.

Or are you thinking of the weird little Brazilian or ARgentinian or whatever he was, D'Zwimmina?  The one that used to take phone calls from high people and attempt humor while sitting in front of psychedelic blobs?  I know he had the Sleestacks on once.

Hey, UE!  Who was that weird kid that used to have that wrestling show?

I got in a sissy fight with Skyler Stone.

But I'm not going to mention that.

Yes, it was Fountain with the comics and the show. Give him credit -- he did interview Chuck B***ly. "Goofin' On" it was, I think, titled.

What about Stephanie P*nn, I believe her name was, and her weekly manifesto "Negratude"? Following her speeches was like watching a one-winged fly trying to take off.

Having the sat dish makes me miss Cable Access.

Even though you're right about the cohesiveness of her points.  nevertheless, huge props for name alone!  And hysterical muffledy muffledy sound quality....

Local Cable Access

All I remember is a a Cable Access Show I helped as Tech Director called I think LUV (Lutheran Video Ministries) and a local programming show on Channel 8 that showed Warner Bros. Toons called "Captain Woody" (Andy Rent was Captain Woody) That and Romper Room!

Guillermo

Or Gee-lez to his friends (even the ones he tried to rape!). I forget his last name (but the memory of being held against my will in my kitchen is still SO fresh!).He hailed from Argentina or Brazil, I forget which. I knew him from his hanging out at the Axtell Street house; I only found out mush later that he was on Cable Access--it might have been when Nathan told me the Sleestacks were on his show.

Stop it!C.A.W.F. I and a few

Stop it!

C.A.W.F. I and a few of my friends joined after the 3rd episode, I think that I have episodes 4-10 on tape with one tape missing because of goddamn borrowers.  Lendin Lieberry is closed!  Many scenes of me in underpants at 180 pounds.  I have threatened to edit all of the hours of taped episodes down to 15 minutes of goodies.  Maybe even 2 minutes.

Wild Side that was a live, call-in show that a few of my friends who also did CAWF were involved with.  There were live musical acts on there as well.  Got 2 or 3 of these on tape.

P.C.P. TV was on around the same time.  I remember having part of an episode on tape and there were stories in the Gazette about how evil and fowl it were.  Robin's show, right?  My favorite scene was of children licking knives.  They also did a female wrestling show.

Dizweeeeeeminnnna was the prototype for my friend's call-in shows.  Guillas Cor-eh-ah, I'm sure, Brazillian.  If AngE wouldn't have turned him down he'd probably still be on the air.

There are still plans for good times.  Plans!

Goofin On W@st3rn vs. Bill the Ra&&it

I worked with the F*untain at Carlos Mu4phys back in them thar late 80's and I will say from the several years that I worked with him and saw him at occasional parties that he was a decent sort of guy in person.  He used to do the events calendar for the resturant which listed the parrot head and funny-wannabee accoustic type acts that would come in to perform at the bar.  He was very young when he started working there and took a lot of shit from the workers there, but then again we all gave each other a lot of shit, it was the climate (side note:  see Waiting w/Justin Long for a fairly accurate experience of working in a resturant, minus "the game").  I think I remember him telling me that he was homeschooled which seemed to make sense to me for his occasional trying-too-hard to be funny personality.  I get the same feeling often listening ot 1o77's rock3r morning show when McKelly is trying too hard and it's not funny, but you know he's supposted to be the funny guy so he's got to try to keep the expectation of that's who he is 'funny guy' or something... I don't know... anyhow.  I know that Goof*n on W@stern wasn't consistantly funny, but for that matter neither was B*ll the R@bbit, nor has any local long-running comic in the W3stern H3@rld.  But at 8am when you're waiting for the drudgery of Econ 101 to start, these sort of things have their place in the world.  I never saw his access show, but I won't fault a guy for trying.
