Mark your calendars, sweet friends. Saturday, May 17th, Fortune & Maltese, The Henchmen and The Meltdowns will be playing a show at the Berkley Front. I am having troubles getting the image to load from the flyer, so I have attached it to this post, instead.

Here is a map for people who like them.

Radicals and Hippies

Sounds like a radical hippie group.

I'd blame Detroit a lot faster than I'd blame ...

... The Berkley Front. (Official Web site is not online yet.)

Yes. Really.

I received no more information than the name from F&M HQ. The place is located somewhere in the Detroit area. I will update the post, when I receive more information.

beer

It is a cool bar with an amazing selection of super-fancy beers on tap.  I think bands play upstairs.  Berkley, MI.  Detroit suburb.  12 mile?  Sorta between Southfield and Royal Oak.

Since these dipshits don't have a website I guess this will have to do...

Sounds a little upscale for garage rock.....sure hope they have PBR.

me too!

Labels are everythiing! I like labels that I recognize on my beverages and on my music! Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to sip Starbucks Frappuccino and listen to Electronica.

F&M lineup?

What will the F&M lineup be this time around?

dingey's picture

old skool!

...mit JC Graves on BASS and Michael Maltese on keys.

Herb, get your labels straight!  F & M aren't "garage"!  They're FRAT ROCK, baby!  Martinis and high class Scotch completely acceptable!

Samantha Stephens's picture

Does it matter what label

Does it matter what label Fortune & Maltese are.   They are just white boys so its nothing special.

I kid

I look forward to this because I have never seen J.C. play with the band.

I have never seen the Hentchmen either.

Can I go for two free shows in a month??

Any possibility I can get on the guest list?

I kid again, I guess seeing Jimmy Scott for free is enough.

I believes I'll be in attendance...we'll have to see how the scheduling works out.  There's a good chance these yahoos will be performing their one and only practice the day of the show in Fred's basement, so I might be looking for distractions!

I will be there after the Jandek show in Ann Arbor.

Priorities indeed.....

I don't really want to see Jandek that much, but I'd love to entertain Dingey.

I don't have a link handy to

I don't have a link handy to the Jandek show but my understanding per BM is that it at the Power Center at U-M at 7:30, is FREE, and admission is totally first come first served (no reservations).  I am thinking it would end in plenty of time to make a bar time F & M show and I hope to do both.

Jandek will play a free

Jandek will play a free concert at the Lydia Mendelssohn Theater on Saturday, May 17, 2008. The show was booked by Brendt Rioux and is sponsored by WCBN (88.3 FM, University of Michigan) and UMMA.

The venue holds 650 people. Admission is free; there are no tickets or reservations. Doors open at 7:30, music starts at 8:00.

The Corwood representative will be backed by Christian Matjias (harpsichord) and James Cornish (trumpet).

Only 650 people?

Better get there early. I mean... Jandek!

Agenda:

Leather?

Political?

Meeting?

Sorry, word association. I'm sure we will discuss further. I would hate to waste a seat that a rabid Jandek fan could use. Plus, I would probably go berserk and "improvise" some drama.

Has anyone yet begun a plan

Has anyone yet begun a plan to wagon train to the show? If we all go as a mega-force, Detroit will be forced to build us autos with better fuel efficiency! Who's bringing the jenkem?
dingey's picture

Likely!

I will possibly be heading over early with the band.  There may be an extra seat in our car.  I emphasize MAY.  Depends on the equipment!  HAW!  But Wiz, I am looking in you direction.  Then you can sit around Fred's house with me and kill time, or we could go out adventuring and/or harrasing ponky.  If Ms. Gore-Fortune is about, she's an entertaining hostess.  it also completely destroyed me to find out that she makes money as a farrier.  Yep.  She shoes horses.  No shit.  Discuss.

wizzybit's picture

And I am looking back, all excited.

I can hold things, as long as they're lightweight. Or, we can work at removing appendages, whatevs. I'm sure Jandek-or-bust will eventually give me a ride home. (Actually, I think we're staying at his sister's house.... maybe someone will inform her of this soon.) Yay! Road trip!

Samantha Stephens's picture

Yes I am going to this and

Yes I am going to this and am willing to give somebody or two a ride(let me know).  If there is any pre F&M activites around the Berkley/Ferndale/Royal Oak area, let me know, I am always down for good times.

Ride share halfway?

Here is the story: We are staying in Brighton (outside Ann Arbor, and about 40 mins. from Detroit, near various highways) Friday night. My sister's birthday is Saturday. She has plans for Saturday afternoon and night in Brighton. Dadmin has to be in Detroit (from Brighton) at 3 p.m. Saturday. That is my only ride to the show. If someone is driving through the area later than that and would give me a ride from the Brighton area to the Fred area, I could hang with my sis for a bit instead of lolling around Fred's living room for hours on Saturday. So, I'm asking: Is anyone going to the show later than 3 p.m. on Saturday and willing to make a pit stop and let me ride to the Fred area with you? Arrangements can be worked out vis a vis meeting at a rest stop, meeting in Ann Arbor, meeting in Novi, having you come directly to my mom's house and being fed and touring the amazing gardens, etc. Please let me know if you think this might be feasible. I'd be happy to help with gas money, directions, shutting the hell up during the drive, and whatever else might come up. Long story short: I'd like a ride from outside Detroit to inside Detroit sometime after 4 p.m. Saturday. Thanks!
