Herb you and I have talked

Herb you and I have talked about this a few times and its starting to scare me because I really think you are right about Obama not living much longer.  Indeed it will be 1968 over again.  First race riots, then people will take to the streets.  Its not going to be pretty.

If there was a King Harley Race Riot I'd be down.

Paranoia

is another kind of fear. Get over it, my brothers, and you can live free.

granted I've not had time to check out the conspiracy links....

...but I agree wif Wiz. Dudes! Knock it off! Why can't you just enjoy a strange and pretty amazing moment in time when the two top contenders for the presidency are a black man and a woman? It's the one good thing that's come of the worst presidency in the history of the United States--people are actually paying attention and seeing through the machinery. I honestly think that people are ready for something different. Did you watch the debate last night and hear the audience totally turn on Hillary and give her a collective "Oh Come ON!" when she tried the plagiarism angle? I really think things have changed in terms of the public's bullshit meter. Or are you claiming that the illuminati are going to take him out?

1968 was 40 GADDAMN YEARS AGO!!!

Quit livin' in the past, man! Futurize! Eyes on the prize! They use fear to control. And I fear that next year President Obama will google Mickey and send the Secret Service to investigate.

I see where you are all

I see where you are all coming from, but I just dont think America is ready and willing to send a black man to the white house. The racial matter in this country is far, far from settled. About us having a repeat of 1968 if Obama gets assassinated, I really really hope I am wrong about that.

I'm just bahhing...

It is a thing to be concerned about, the half-hearted security issue.

But the whole "he's gonna get shot" thing is, I dunno, a message that we don't need repeated.

Sam, all the latest polls say that if we get a young black preacher versus the old white Bush-hugging lobbyist-schtupper, then the black guy gets the most support. Numbers are close, but Obama would win if the election were today.

There is still plenty of time to tear him down, though. FOX just ran a poll that asked, who would bin Laden want to win. FOX viewers picked Osama, er, Obama, of course. These swine will be hitting him on his weird name, on false rumors that he reads the Koran daily and that he's soft on tearizim. Will they hit on race? They'll gently, subtly push some buttons (talk radio won't be so subtle), like the Clintons were doing.

I just suspect that the people who would never vote black would never vote Democrat anyway.

I understand where you're coming from, Sam. I grew up in rural Michigan, know what sort of people say what sort of things. But my memories of that go up to the Jessie Jackson run for office... "Don't worry, someone will shoot him if he gets too far," was pretty much the saying on the farm from the dumbshits who didn't vote anyway. Then I moved to the big city.

I think in the past 20 years we've gotten a new crop of voters who are honestly anti-racist, or who be willing, even excited, to put a brother in the White House. A qualified brother who seems to be a big-ass change from Reagan Bush Clinton Bush.

It's not going to be easy. The right has many more reasons than racism to stop him -- Obama's been using populist language, which really scares and pisses off the rich and powerful.

I'm white as bleached snow, so I can't really assume with any authority, but hasn't there been an attitude (there for a reason, centuries of reasons) in the black community that no matter what you do, someone whiter than you, or the whole system of whiteness, will shoot you down? So why bother to do anything to succeed in the white man's world? What if, in this case, this November, Obama gets elected? What kind of message will that send to not only the black community in the US, but to the rest of the country and the world? A little bit inspirational, no?

Criswell's picture

For the record....

I'd vote for Obama if he were a woman as well.

Goat you make really good

Goat you make really good points. Its just where I come from, America isnt as liberal and open minded as it appears. Not saying we are in a bitter racial conflict as we were 45 years ago, its just I feel we have a long long long way to go to getting to a racial utopia in the States. Make no mistake about it, Barak proves we have made progress and he's gotten more support than I think Jesse Jackson ever got. Whatever happens, keep your eyes open. We'll never see an election like this again.
