feb. 13th.....official "Paul Kiry Day!"

Paul -

As you know today is Paul Kiry Day here at our factory - all day
long.  I am sorry that you cant read your name that good on our
sidewalk sign - it looks somewhat distressed but it is the way the
light is hitting it.

We have stopped work twice to review your email (attached below).  We
have talked about the importance of what you said and just the general
coolness of what this all means.  We have read your email out loud and
everyone in the factory got a copy.

Last but not least we listening to your music selection to honor you.
And - I must say I am glad to learn about all these bands.  We are
sincerely appreciative of you taking the time to learn about us.  It
is quite humbling to us that you care.

Jack Stack - modern day guru of open book finance - happened to stop
by the factory today with one of his partners and they all  heard the
story and read your email (which is posted in the front of our
factory).  And then - oddly enough - the guys who run Great Game of
Business stopped by the factory and they heard the whole thing too.

Thanks again!

Advice

I am right now eating from a Lindt & Sprüngli, 70%, "Intense Dark," which I purchased from a Meijer store at aprox. 12:45 am. Please explain in detail the benefits and demerits of this versus Arkonosie. But only in terms of bands or musicians; such as, if Arkonose is Oscar Peterson, then Lindt & Sprüngli would be James Booker.

Afraid

I was afraid you’d say that.

I think if it was milk chocolate, it would be Kenny G. As it is, it’s sorta Bobby McFerrin.

And then there is the Moser

And then there is the Moser and Roth dark chocolate at Aldi, I would probably call that Grover Washington Jr, with hints of Chick Corea and just a shade of Deodato.

Hershey = Aerosmith

I PROTEST !!!  No way Hershey = Kenny G, nope… Hershey = Aerosmith  There is no pretense with Hershey, no flowery lettering, no posturing except for that classic whrang(is that a word) it’s that bend like Tyler leaning on a mic stand.  In my book Ghirardelli = Kenny G in that it’s totally over-hyped.  I won’t say that it’s bad, but that it’s just not as good as people say.

Lint = Natalie Merchant

Lint = Natalie Merchant   Sure it’s good but it could be so much better, seems like it was better in the past but maybe I was just younger then.

Chocolate should never taste

Chocolate should never taste like jazz unless you’re eating malk chocolate and sleeping on your pellow.

It is jazz when it is the kind that has percentages of cocoa on the lable. If there are nibs, it’s bebop, hard bop.

Ghirardelli is more "straight ahead" jazz, such as what you get on Bob Parloachee.

I need to get me some of this Sun Ra chocolate.

mmmm

it is your alter chocodestiny.

The other night at dinner we had both purple cabbage and purple potatoes and we declared it Sun Ra-licious.  i still remember there briefly being a jazz cookbook out in the world (when there were still independent bookstores like John Rollins) and in his section, Sun Ra declared that we should all eat more purple food.  We have never forgotten.

It’s after the end of the world.  Don’t you know that yet?

wizzybit's picture

I think I had some of that, once.

Once I had a bar of the above Sun Ra chocolate. I bought it while everyone was distracted, and then hid it. It lasted a good 3 months, while I nibbled on it slowly. I don’t know why I hid it - I don’t think Richard would have liked the nibs that much (he’s kind of a texture guy…). But the secretiveness made it tastier.

I guess that boils down to forbidden candy again, doesn’t it? Once I have a metaphor, it is mine.

98%

I had some insane percentage, 98% I think, I got from World Market. It was like John Zorn’s more dense stuff, or Last Exit. Really hard to deal with unless you were prepared. Black and tar-like.

wait

Where can I get some "Dancing In Your HEad" chocolate?  The kind that feels like there are bees buzzing in your brain while Ornette is darting around your head?

The best chocolate I’ve had locally was Venesualian (sp?) from Bacchus.   yum yum
