I know who Corn Relish are. They really want Pappy’s? I don’t think I’ve ever eaten there. I think that’s the place where I had to rescue an old high school friend because his ol’ lady left him, and took his car, while there.
Pin Ata sounds better. Not as many harsh memories.
”I don’t know why people continue to come here, but I do know that it’s not the food, the service, or the ambiance. That was probably the worst dining experience I’ve ever had in this town. Terrible.”
”From what I’ve discovered, people either love Pappy’s or they hate it. I don’t hate it, but I don’t like it either. The food was substandard; ordered the chicken burrito, and the chicken was incredibly bland. Wouldn’t have been surprised if they just boil it, shred it, and wrap it up. The sauce gave it some flavor, but it was more salty than spicy. Don’t get me wrong, I love a dive bar and hole-in-the-wall restaurants, but only if they’ve got great food. The entire restaurant just looked dirty and everything (the booths, the table, the menus) felt sticky. It’s definitely smoky, even in the non-smoking section.”
”Smokey bar atmosphere with very average food. Our waitress was very pleasant.”

Outlcassed by the professional review, gosh…
You should still try it sometime. I don’t know all th’ fancy newspaper words, but we been there a few times, an we like it.
The one time we got to ‘Pinata’ it was like all-y’all were just finishin’ up, so I don’t even really know. What’s your college newspaper reviewer say about that one??

The cupcakes at the new downtown cupcakery are average or slightly above, but not amazing. They are good and sticky on my phone, however. Oops.
Did I not mention the nachos for lunch? Although I can eat “Mexican” all day - wait, what am I complaining about? I forgot to ask Richard if they went to the Mexican buffet in Lansing today while he was there, but I believe he feels the same way about it. Keep choosing. I still can’t be there until 7:15 or so but I’ll need to know where to go.
I seem to recall Tree being a little down on the house of Pinata, and it IS pretty crowded/noisy there for our group formation. I’ve never been to Pappy’s, so I can’t speak to the atmosphere there (but generally trust the recommendations of Leppos over compu-yahoos). Perhaps the Ranch of Cheetoes is a neutral middle ground?
”Kalamazoo’s best kept secret! Great authentic Mexican and at a great value. My only complaint is I never can find the door! You’ll know what I mean when you go.”
“We were a party of four.. prompt service, friendly weighting staff. Food was good. 44oz margarita for 13.50 can’t be argued with.”
You can’t f@#$ing argue with a 44 oz margarita. I wonder about that weighting staff. Do they weigh you?
“Pappy’s has a handful of TVs in the back, a few couches and a fire place straight out of a 70s adult film - very unlike my own living room. I’d like to think that during certain weekends, said cheep beer fuels retro swinger parties with disco balls, bell bottoms and shag carpeting; however, I was there on a Tuesday. If anything close to the aforementioned scenario goes down at Pappy’s, it surely doesn’t happen on Tuesdays.”
An unfamiliar place? YOUMUSTBEINSANE!~ I applaud you! Trust the Relishes, not the innernets!
Isn’t Pappy’s where water used to be served out of oil cans? Am I imagining that? Is this a peanut-flinging sort of place? I sort of miss the peanut-flinging days of the faux Gay 90’s 70’s restaurants of yesteryore. That’s what I’m remembering Pappy’s as, but it may have been some other restaurant that occupied that same location many moons ago. Are you going to the High Wheeler afterward? WIZNEEDSMAPLECANDY!
…takeout from Shawarma King. Because I miss Shawarma King far more than anticipated. Eat some for me sometime soon, won’t you? Hummous and fattoush? Thanks.
Oh, yeah, I miss you guys, too. Especially when I imagine you carrying platters of hummous and fattoush for me.

$7.99 for a tube of Bryllcreem!?!? I just got back from the Rite Aids. I looked for other options, hoped to find a tin of pomade in the African American hair section, but couldn’t tell what was what, didn’t want my hair de-kinked. Can’t a white man find a tin of pomade around these parts???
OFMG will ask Mrs. OFMG if we can be irrisponsible parents and make the pappy scene. It is a very outside chance, but one that is greater than zero. The kids are old now, they know how to make a sandwich and take it to the tv on their own.

My veggie sub was delicious AND hilarious (because the “our special sauce” appeared to be packets of mayonaise). Service was friendly (overly so?) and handled our oversize party quite well. Beers were large.
Yeah, where?
I will be late again, 7:15-ish. Dance practice. I am plotting on nachos for lunch, so just about anywhere is fine with me.
Let's eat Mexican!
Like “La Pinata” or “Pappy’s”. We’re skipping the Brit thing, but we and our precious angels are going to eat a Mexican somewhere.
(You don’t know who I am, Do you? It’s okay, you can trust me. Let’s just have dinner, and see where it goes…)

Pappy's
What kind of food? Drink? Atmosphere? I think we should at least discuss the possibilty of eating somewhere I’ve never been to eat at before.
59% Like It. That would be a landslide in most elections.

Pappy’s is kinda sticky.
Speaking of sticky...
I don't want to poop on your parade.
Maybe we should try Pappy’s. And all those quotes I found were from internet commenters, not knewspaper riters.

Pappy's?
Let’s try it. Unless someone strenuously objects.

I care not where we eats. Long as we do it somewheres.
I cannot gin up one iota of
I cannot gin up one iota of enthusiasm for Pappy’s, sorry…..
However. both Wizzy and I are ok with La Pinata.
I AM SHOCKED! SHOCKED!

I have been informed that my
I have been informed that my elitist stance re: Pappy’s must be corrected so I stand corrected. Pappy’s it is…

Dingey you’re thinking of
Dingey you’re thinking of JC Grundy’s…..
Geez…
Geez…
Let's eat at Pappy's
And gripe about the sticky tables.
JC GRUNDY’S!!! My ma and pa went to eat there and thought it was a hoot. I woulda rather have been dropped off at Star World.
Look, I’m kinda new around
Look, I’m kinda new around here, but I was just wondering if…like, maybe if something like 6:45 might be a good time sorry.
‘Cause I know old people like to eat early and everything, but just listen to these reasons:

Bryllcreem

Howabout 6:30?
Howabout? We got no other plans except to be “rockers.”
I want to grease up my hair, but my lady just came home to respond, “you have lost your damn mind.”
6:30, Pappy's?
Huh?
Up with my thumb
Book it.
As Lord of the ancient
As Lord of the ancient uni-continent Pangea, I decree:
“Pappy’s, at 6:30-6:45.”
“Oh, and I accept no personal responsibility for the chicken quesadilla or weightstaff.”

OFMG & Mrs. OFMG ??? possibly

I found it quite serviceable.
