…it is good to see some comprehensive coverage. I have to admit that I’ve been getting all my news from facebook, essentially, so I feel like I’ve been pretty well informed because all of my Kalamazoo River-based homies are keeping me filled in. Is there any national coverage of this by the “mainstream media”???

When this story broke, Angie and I (being on vacation and just goofing around at home) decided that we should grab our lovely and sometimes lazy summer kids and volunteer to help with cleanup, containment, etc.
Apparently, that abstract desire to help is a lot more difficult in the real concrete world. We have yet to hear back from anyone she contacted.
And it’s back to work on Monday.
I’ll drown my ineffectual sorrows in some appropriately named Violent Apathy tonight, so there’s that.
…that they’ve had no response from the volunteer line. That’s messed up. I know Cinnamon Girl mentioned that one of her former students is washing birds at the bird sanctuary, but he might already be a volunteer or intern there or something.

Man....

NBC and Colbert
Was on NBC news past three nights. And Stephen Colbert talked about it last night as the place where the missing Gulf oil has obviously turned up.
My ancestral home of Galesb*rg has begun to stink of oil and benzene, I’ve heard.
I’m going to key every gas burning vehicle, including my own.

I've heard that from others as well....
