On several recent occasions, I drunkenly made unimportant claims (about pop culture crap) that were challenged by some of you. I will attempt to set the record straight, although you should keep in mind that my “research” amounts to about 4 minutes of searching the Googlepedias.
I claimed that at least 3 actresses had played Catwoman on the Adam West/Batman TV show. Others argued that Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt were the only actresses to play Catwoman on that show. I added later that the 3rd Catwoman may have been a part of the Adam West/Batman movie. It was suggested that the Batman movie shouldn’t count, but I disagreed because it was essentially the same cast. It was decided that the movie DID count, and that I was still wrong.
So what I’ve found is that Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt were the main “Catwomen” on the TV series, Lee Meriwether was Catwoman in the movie, and that “An uncredited fourth actress played Catwoman as part of a cameo villain team-up in ‘The Entrancing Dr. Cassandra’, the penultimate episode of the series.”
An another occasion, I claimed that Patti Smith is from Michigan. She is not. I was wrong. She was born in Chicago, spent many years on the east coast, and didn’t move to Michigan until sometime in the 1980’s
Lastly, I claimed that Alice Cooper is from Michigan. Another argued that he was from Arizona. In that same discussion I claimed that Alice’s dad was a minister, which was dismissed as a rumor.
According to many internet sources (IMDb, allmusic, others…) Alice (Real name: Vincent Damon Furnier) was born in Detroit on Feb 4th, 1948.
Some sources state that Alice’s father was “an elder” in the church, while others, including SickthingsUK (“The largest source of Alice Cooper information on the net”) indicate that he was a Minister. For what it’s worth, it’s also noted that his Grandfather was an “Ordained Apostle” in the Church of Jesus Christ.
That is all.

Mr. Greenjeans
No way, his father was Mr. Greenjeans and nobody can tell me otherwise
yeah?
Says you! I remember a friend of mine was working on summer in a candy shoppe in Flint, Michigan, who go to see either Julie Newmarr or Lee Meriweather, who was in town for some sort of comicon. She came into the candy shop. In her catwoman outfit. Which he, at age 19, reported was “more than skin tight…..it was BONE tight!” I think he tried to enchant her with free fudge samples, which only got him so far….
I love you Tree....
I love you Tree….
I read this with great
I read this with great interest… Especially when I saw the word “Catwoman.”
I have always “known” that there were 3 Catwoman actresses, too, Tree. But I didn’t mince Catwomen between “campy Batman movie” vs. “campy Batman series.” I just lump my Catwomen together. I think we can all learn a lesson here.
Dinger: “Which he, at age 19, reported was “more than skin tight…..it was BONE tight!” ”
That made me guffaw. I saw Julie Newmar at a nerd gathering/con in Detroit a few years ago. She wasn’t in costume, but I can verify that her bones were very tight, and she barely had enough skin to go around.
Speaking of which… CON season will soon be upon us! I’m almost done with my Golden Age Hawkman costume. Just got to get the detail right on the boot-talons. I think WWF’s Virgil will be very impressed.
