I ain’t on no Twitter. I’m not happy with a lot of things about Obama, however I can’t imagine what Sarah Palin in the Dick Cheney role would be like. Democrats are tools but Republicans are evil. At least I’m not aligned with evil.

Seriously? Did you think he was going to be King, and not have to deal with the House and Senate? What do you think the President does? He doesn’t really even write legislation, he can only “lead” and “influence” the House and Senate. Let me put it this way, did you really think that putting a new cog in the system was going to make a new system?
One thing I’ve come to realize is that the frustrating lack of significant change is probably a good and bad thing. But! One must recognize that it IS partially a good thing. If the “President” could just walk in the door some January and completely change the way the U.S. operates, then 40% of the people would be violently upset at all times. The fact that there are “checks and balances” (you may have heard this term before….) should comfort you. I know that black and white thinkers like black and white issues, but I don’t think there are any issues like that. Ever. Sorry.
Sure, I’m still waiting for my nationalized health care. And I wish there wasn’t war anywhere. But that’s like wishing for magical elves to build and deliver toys to you.
So, I’m not apologizing for anything. I’m getting exactly what I expected. I’m an adult, and I can deal with ambiguity.
The best two quotes about politics sum it up for me
“politics are like roids, nothing but an ugly pain in the ass” thats from a friend of mine.
“I’m too old to care about politics” thats from Kirk Douglas. I am not as old as Mr. Douglas but I am old enough to not care about politics anymore. This much I will say here I will never join the Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Green Party, or any other poltcal party because frankly politcs make me sick, and I have so many resentments toward poltics and various politicians that I dont want to bother anymore. Also I have learned there are more things in life that are more precious than poltics. Like friendship, happiness and love. Now thats just my view, and how I see things. Besides politics is bullshit.
Ok I didnt mean to vent and probably got carried away here. First off if anyone took offense by what I just wrote, let me apologize now because I just wanted to get that off my chest. Now I will get off the soapbox.

If the last year had been another year in the Bush administration, would you still be saying this? I don’t think so.
Now, I didn’t vote for him, so I wasn’t expecting anything. However, lets face it: ambiguity has nothing at all to do with a fundamentally flawed (and that’s being polite — more like criminal) economic policy that favors big banking, a monetary policy that continues the insanity of past administrations, a forcclosure program that sucks, and a war policy that’s illegal and flat-out insane. Yes, Congress sucks as well. But come on, this guy is a joke. He’s even resorted to regurgiating all of Bush’s talking points: standing before a bunch of soldiers and talking lies and nonsense (and yes, he was always pro-Afghan war).

Yeah, yeah, I get it. New boss, same as the old boss. I’m just saying, that’s not the boss. Legislature writes the laws that should be funding / supporting the war, and controlling the influence of corporations.
I’m just excited to wake up and not have to discover that taking 2 birth control pills at once (i.e., “plan b”) is considered “abortion”.
In completely unrelated and unreliable news, my conservative cousin posts on, uh, some other place, that the Michigan legislature finally passed the smoking ban. I’m ready to start smoking!
Mickey if the above comment is how you really feel why the McCain sticker?
Good question and it deserves an answer. At the time I thought he would be the right choice for president because he served in the millitary and understands these matters better than Obama. However over the months past that, I have seen so many people during the election who supported Obama give the McCain people shit, and people who supported McCain give the Obama people shit. It made me sick and then I realized thats that is the game politicians and politics play: to divide and conquer. They dont care about us. They love it when we split and turn against each other. The whole thing left a sickening taste in my mouth, and one of the many reason why I have a burning hatred toward poltics.
I say fuck them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are the real enemies.
Violent Apathy man. I see we need to have yet another chat person to person, face to face. I just left you a message. Name the time and place and I’l be there.
Well, YESTERDAY I read what Herb wrote in his “McCain sticker” post, and I though it was kind of jerky, so I wrote a reply. I didn’t post it because I wasn’t sure I wanted to get involved. I saved it, so I’ll post it now (More after that)
I don’t remember Mickey saying he supported McCain because he wanted to “piss off his liberal friends,” but it sure did.
Considering his interest in “history,” and the fact that we’ve been at war for the better part of a decade, Mickey’s statement about McCain serving in and understanding “the military” seems, at the very least, an honest and respectable answer to your question. It’s the same answer you’d get from millions of Americans. Sure, most of them would be old white guys, but I know an old white guy or two that voted for a black dude last year.
If I were in Mickey’s shoes, I too would be “sick of politics.” I’d be tired of people demanding that I explain my position, and then of having to defend that position over and over again. His comment about Obama supporters giving McCain supporters shit…I wonder who he’s talking about?
So, I sort of wish I’d posted that yesterday, because I think it would have kept us from getting to the “I’ll beat the shit out of you.” point.
I do wish that Herb hadn’t picked at that old scab, and I don’t know what he later wrote and deleted, but whatever it was, I doubt very much that he said anything that warranted the beating of shit from his body.
Mickey, I guess you need to find another crowd to run with. I mean, if/when I see you, I’ll be as cool as I can be to someone that has physically threatened one of my friends. I’ll still listen to your radio show, and I appreciate that you play my requests and all that, but damn dude, you really can’t say things like that and expect that people will want you around. You really should seek help.

Mickey,
Sorry if what I wrote offended you so deeply. Tree is right, I probably shouldn’t have brought the McCain thing up again. I wrote what I did in the spirit of friendship and humor but it’s obvious you didn’t see it that way. I took down the posts so as not to create further misunderstanding and as a way to express my apology.
There is no ‘unfinished business’. I won’t comment on your posts anymore, either on this forum or FB or anywhere else. I will be polite when our paths cross in public. Like Tree, I will listen to and enjoy your radio show. Hope that is OK with you.
Mickey, I guess you need to find another crowd to run with.
Thats probably a good idea. Nothing personal but it just didnt work out.
So this is my formal resgination from having anything to do with Leppotone. For the record I dig every person here and think you are all wonderful human beings (and I mean that). At one point I looked up to you people as role models. Lets face facts I am aware that the fact that I am real quiet and didnt say much made a lot of people uncomfortable and creeped people out, but thats a part of whom I am. A lot of times I didnt know what to say to people. Now I am no longer posting here, and am no longer doing dinners, but there is a chance we will run into each other. Dont worry I will be polite and civil towards you, like I said I dig you people. Now if there are people here who are offended and put off towards me I understand that and will no bear any personal anomosity toward you or anyone else here. Things just didnt work out.
Now some of you have mentioned that you have enjoyed my radio show. Coming from yall that means a lot, and if you enjoy it please feel free to continue to listen. Also if you would like to contact me. You can find me on the UFO Board, Myspace, or Facebook
One more thing to add. Just to let all of yall know, and regardless of what yall thought of me, just to let you know I am not a creep. I am just as normal as the rest of you. Just because someone is quite dosent make him a freak.

Geez, revisiting this thread. I’m almost tempted to apologize for Obama at this point. Is it just me or has it seemed like he’s really done nothing of substance. I still won’t vote for a republican, but really we’re talking the lesser of two evils at this point. I’m dissappointed at healthcare reform, I’m dissappointed at don’t ask, don’t tell. Moreover I’m dissappointed in the tone of being told to buck up and get out and vote, seriously? How the hell can the Kardashianseszes–probably spelled wrong but I don’t care enough to check—get in the press more than the president, why do we not ‘See’ him doing more. I’m sure he does a lot more than we see, but why is it that he is so ineffective in getting the message of change out there. We’ve been at war for nine years now with no real end in sight. Nope, I wouldn’t change my vote, but man I’m not really happy about the whole lot of nothing going on right now.
…Just venting, feel free to tell me I’m wrong, or remind me of meaningful change that I’ve forgotten about.
He’s accomplished some things, but it’s hard to pause and remember what those things are amid the baying blare and drum beating of all of the politicians and newscasters and political commentators licking their chops in anticipation of another election season to browbeat us with. I hate the point that discourse has reached. One thing that makes me sad is that initially it looked like Obama was going to be addressing the media pretty regularly to whip all the media-feeding-frenzy bullshit into shape as it sprang up, but that didn’t really keep happening. I’m annoyed with Democrats in general more than Obama. One dude can only do so much, but the party? Sweet jesus. Doing a great job of living up to the neutered stereotype.
I cannot watch any political programming at this point. It just feels like feeding the beast, helping the machine maintain it’s pointless fever pitch that accomplishes nothing and just keeps people whipped up to the point of inertia.

I am getting very burned out on the political frenzy as well. I am trying to hone in on values not parties. It does seem though that the Obama agenda, such as it was, was sabotaged more by Democrats than by Republicans. It would be excellent if there could be a movement emerging from the center. Both parties engage in a tug of war over the center and they both screw the center. I’m not sure what to do about that…
