Starting tomorrow, I have 9 days off! Woo Hoo! It’ll be the first time I’ve had an entire week off since last Christmas. I’m thankful that I have a decent job, but let’s face it, not working, for a little while anyway, is pretty dang cool.
Many of us have much of our evening planned already, but I hope that there will be some chatter here today. Friday doesn’t feel right without it.
Anybody else excited about Avatar? Where my nerds at?

More Movies
I haven’t seen many movies recently, but in a way that’s working in my favor right now because I’m finally gonna have some time, and the movies I’ve wanted to see are turning up at The Cheap Flicks in Battle Creek. I saw “Wild Things” there last week, and both “Stare At Goats” and “Mr. Fox” are starting there today. $3.00 tickets there should offset the priciness of seeing Avatar in 3D. Actually considering seeing that at the IMAX in GR.
IMAX!
I remember being all geeked out about Matrix Reloaded (or was it Revolutions) being at the GR IMAX, and almost went with CG… never made it, and since then I’ve heard from many that the Matrix sequels aren’t much to shout about. There must be an IMAX movie I’d like to see eventually (that didn’t play Cedar Point - ‘76’s To Fly is on the National Film Registry, by the way) (let’s have a backyard showing of that!), but I don’t know if Avatar is it. Perhaps Toy Story 3?
I’m glad to hear Where the Wild Things Are is playing the Cheap Flicks - we missed it and have some downtime starting next week ourselves! Fantastic Mr. Fox is one of the most beautiful stop-motion animation films I’ve ever seen… and perhaps Wes Anderson’s best in my books. Make it a Clooney double-feature!
Fox was swell.
It was. “Goats” was cool, but the ending kind of fell into simplistic booshit (if everyone drops acid, then we can all be free!). And I don’t believe that the Lord would allow such blue abominations as these Avatar people.
We’ll have to see what we can see in the tiny town we’ll be in for Xmas. We usually have to escape parental figures. I don’t think we’ve seen a “good” movie in these situations. Something about being stuck in a museum, and Will Smith fighting zombies.
The S from Hell
Actually, if there’s one film I’m dying to see right now, this is it :

S from Hell?
Is this real? I mean, it’s a real film, but is this a real…phobia…thing?
I gots me some Googlin’ to do!
whaaaaa?
I’m still hoping that it will stop snowing at that at some point we’ll be able to catch “A Serious Man” in Asheville while we’re down here, but I’m fearing that maybe this was the last week for it and today is the last day. Hopefully I’m wrong, because there ain’t no leaving the mountain today. SNOW SNOW SNOW. Probably about 8-9 inches so far? And GREASY. Hooray for groceries.
eye eye eye
Is this real? I mean, it’s a real film, but is this a real…phobia…thing?
Two words for you (actually, an abbreviation of three words and one full word) -
CBS eye.
Of course it’s real! I’m just glad to know I’m not alone.
Caroliners - didn’t know you were in NC when I saw reports of the nasty storm covering that part of the country… and said to myself, “Dusty and Dingey are missin’ that one!” Sorry to see you’re not…
it's really quite amazing.
Our timing is exquisite. When I last went outside with a yardstick, about 10” had fallen today. Should be another couple tonight, then supposedly it will taper off. Huh! here i was just being told yesterday that Dept. of Social Services NEVER CLOSES no matter the weather and yet…..I never got the expected phone call today. I’m thinkin the weather called their bluff, maybe! ;)
No shit...
“Sherlock” was ok. Just saw it. As you would expect, Satanists and giant Frenchmen and ships sinking and special effects and affects. And Holms and Watson make out.
