If I get offered a job next week, depending on how quickly they would need me to start, it may turn out to be the last opportunity for hanging out for a while, which is pretty weird to consider. I may be putting the horse well before the cart, but still.

Are you painfully burned out on winter already? Or is it the holidays? The holidays frequently get my panties in a wad, I won’t lie. I don’t know what it is, exactly. Excess of familial togetherness? The consumerism? The goddamned weather? This year wasn’t as bad as usual, partly because it was so confusing and disorienting that I didn’t really have time to get myself all bent out of shape. Also, there were no holiday work obligation cookie exchanges and parties and whatnot, so that helped. Blort.
Anywhoo, just like Xmas, New Year’s has completely snuck up and bit me on the ass. Thursday night? Really? Wow, um. Huh! Yeah, where? We all have houses where parties could feasibly occur, including me. Let me think about that.

Mein lady friend and I have never been ones for big gushy NYE falderal. But still, hanging with some peeps would be nice. We have a family gathering in The Thumb on New Year’s day. I do dig wife’s family, but it’s a shitload of driving. The thought of making the trip with a tongue covered in wall-paper paste gets me a bit oofy.
Dinner and or supper out and then more drinks and conversation somewhere? Say the word. I, maybe we, am/are on it.

Fun with friends is my first choice for NYE, but if the only options are champagne & shrimp coctails with hundereds of over-dressed not-my-friends, or a beans & weenie pizza and the 3 Stooges AMC marathon…

I just realized via facebook that there is another party that night. I only kinda vaguely know the party-thrower (Kate), but I realize that some folks in our crew know her well at this point and might be heading in that direction, which i totally understand. I still never think to check that damned facebook events thing. Sorry for any conflicts!
I’m still planning on the get-together at our house. I just want to hang out with folks I know and I have a low-key thang.

We’ll have some muncies (veggies and dip, cheese and crackers and the like). We’ll probably have some beer and wine on hand, but I’d say it’s always a good idea to bring whatcha like to drink. if you FEEL like bringing snacks, the more the merrier, but don’t feel obligated!
