Did Chribbus treat you well? Any big excitements? Our big happy was that we made it back to have Christmas with the families.
Dusty, as always, is the king of gifts, and got me the Taschen book on the work of Walton Ford. TPopp will be as excited as I was about that one (Tracy: they finally issued something other than the bejillion-dollar oversized version!!!!). Also Thee Midnighter’s box set, a book bundle from McSweeneys (YAY!) and AMERICAN PRIMITIVES VOL II on REvenant, comprised of “phantom” recordings from the 78 era, i.e. artists who recorded one or two records and then vanished, leaving amazing records in their wake of which only 3-10 known copies remain. Included are a song that I’m currently obsessed with (for the last few months):

The collection is hair-raising and beautiful.
Also, I am apparently so dulled and sated from overstuffing and taters that I can’t string together an interesting sentence, so I’ll shut up now.
I hope your holidays were cool and that we can all hang out again soon. PREACH!

It were goodly
I am stuffed beyond stuffed. Surely the new year brings a new dedication to my bicycle but for now we eat, we eat like the wind. I obtained the new StarTrek movie along with a dvd of MST3K w/”Santa Claus vs. the Martians” and “Manos: Hands of Fate”. Watched the MST3K with the kids and enjoyed that they’re old enough to get a lot of the humor, some dated jokes went flying overhead, but still fun times and giggles. The kids got good stuff, and it’s been nice to relax and try to get over this stupid cold. I’ve been working on a pet project and have had some nice productivity in that direction as well as having had the chance to read a couple of books which is really out of character for me. Hope everyone is having a good vacation.
Massage chair, fireplace, big screen tv.
Obviously not MY house. We went to my dad’s new pad, where he had displayed a 1/2 decorated lop-sided real tree in the bay window. Of course, he had swiped it from the old house. I was proud. We ate a delicious entirely dad-planned meal too, including ham, macaroni & cheese with andouille sausage, sweet potatoes and 2 kinds of pie. It made my rolls and cinnamon pecan rolls look lame. We then watched Ferris Bueller’s Day Off on the big screen tv and fought over the massage chair. Perfect.
Richard got me ultra-fancy running gear, which I just tried out. Take that, winter! I run in you! Very slowly like an amateur! I am especially fond of the running tights, because they are seamed as for super-hero legs. Sadly, I imagine I look more like the mom from the Incredibles in them.
Toys 'n' things.
I got a helicopter. I fly it real good! And inlaws who keep lots of bourbon in the house, which I’m drinking right now. Fourth season of “The Wire,” which will come in handy since we finished the third this evening. A study of central Pennsylvanian accent. which has a definite “abaouat” for “about,” not like the Canadian “aboot,” but related. I saw two separate incidents where two ladies who share the genetic makeup of my lady have taken it upon themselves to care for poor unfortunate kitties. One kitty ended up wearing a Santa hat — he’s 20 years old, and just looks up at us like, ‘I don’t know you people, I just wanted the food and a warm place to sleep, and you just humiliate me out of the blue. Well, ok.’ They took pictures of the old cat with the hat and emailed them to the neighbor who owns it and lets it out all night poor ol’ thing.
home for Chribbus
Some of our family weren’t well enough to get together with us, and the rest are in Florida, so CG, Kapn Jr, and I all enjoyed the holiday at home, where we’ve been hibernating pretty much since Thursday (though, inspired by A Christmas Story, I ventured out for Chinese on Christmas day, but it was way oversalted, so it ranks as the worst Christmas dinner ever - I would have preferred Fonzie’s stove-top cuisine).
We’ve been able to enjoy our cool gifts at our leisure - it’s especially nice to see Kapn Jr enjoying all her gifts! This was the first year that she got us up extra early, not the last I’m sure.
I’ve been enjoying all Peanuts strips from ‘67 and ‘68, a John Lennon Rock Band guitar controller and Rock Band 2 (surprising me with Bikini Kill and “Cool for Cats”), and some sharp new sweater vests that you’ll be sure to see soon!
its da season
Whoa, Kap… is the controller the Vox coffin body?
Got a game system for Owen. I bought a golf game. Time frittered away, by golly.
not much, thx Jeebus
-Chocolate everywhere, KPS winter break, and second-hand faux-fur-coat/cape thing I drooled over (not literally) while going to Riviera Theatre = hebben, kthx!
-CL Santa brought slim-neck Fender and babeh amp for Jum Jum. FedEx Santa brung Stylophone with Beatbox for Cho (shout out to Tree for the idear).
-Dadmin gets to go back to work. Karma coal?
God bless you for realz, Crappor, for, uh, “checking on the cats” while we were gone this Crimmus. They are pretty happy with their, uh, “food and water.”
