Host of SwaG!, Bat Guano, has canceled all appearances, appointments, concerts and broadcasts for the coming week. The reason given by his manager is “emotional exhaustion.”
In last week’s SwaG! Mr. Guano plays a full gamut of music, from Napalm Death to Tom Jones, Roland Kirk to Herb Alpert. There may be clues in his style of radio programing pointing to his state of mind. Or not…. This is about a three-hour radio program recording that you can get here.

… it has me thinking about the real draw my favorite power-pop acts possess… not present here…
… it’s now revealed to me, that true power-pop has a dark undercurrent, or subtle emotional pull, contained in its lyrics, underscored by some wicked musicianship not on obvious display (usually when vocals aren’t out front, and then, only one instrument at a time, lead guitarist taking the limited glory)…
… here we have facile rhyming voiced faux-Robin Zander stylee, dubbed over 21st century hit-soundtrack chord jamming, featuring by-the-numbers instro soloing between the verses…
