They’re showing “Let the Right One In,” which looks real durn scary and good. Anyone interested in going? I’m planning on it. Maybe make the usual Friday dinner a little more of a production? They have a bar. And there’s surely at least one dining choice in TR comparable to OP, CB, URH, MR or MSG! What say you, gang?

The film is very well reviewed… but I can’t speak Swedish. That’s why I hated that fuckin’ Persona. “You are Emma Vogler” my ass.

TESTIFY!

In other movie news, we have managed to see both “The wrestler” and “SLumdog Millionaire,” both of which I really really really liked for TOTALLY DIFFERENT REASONS.  “The Wrestler” is really harsh, but is astounding.  Jebus.  Way to come back, Rourke, ya nut!

And “Slumdog” is just ridiculously entertaining.  It would have been a schlocky piece of crap in the wrong hands, but somehow it manages to keep pulling you along even when the credibility of the storyline occasionally hiccups.  It’s funny, it’s moving, it’s visually beautiful and stylish and…yeah!  Just totally totally entertaining.  I’d see it again.

Ms Info and I are going to see The Wrestler tonight. I’m really excited. It looks like Aronofsky took inspiration for the Randy “The Ram” Robinson character from the real life stories of Jake “The Snake” Roberts and Terry Funk Jr. There’s a documentary called “Beyond the Mat” that focuses on Jake The Snake and Terry Funk as the tour the high school gym/county fair ground wrestling circuit. Jake the Snake has a crack problem and attempts to reconcile with his estranged daughter and Terry Funk puts himself through horrible amounts of physical damage because he tends to perform “extreme” matches. I think Jake the Snake died a few years ago. I’m also convinced that stole the name of Mickey Rourke’s character from KPOWW. KPOWW’s announcer’s name was “Rock’n’Roll” Randy Robinson.
