I sorry I missed you all on Saturday, I trust all functions were fabulous?
“My girls” and I were in a car accident at about 3:40 that afternoon. Everyone’s okay, although Treela and my daughter were both banged up a bit. Both have neck and back pain/muscle strain. Treela got one of them cool neck braces, and after about 3.5 hours in the ER, both were sent home with muscle relaxers and pain meds. I didn’t get hurt at all. The 2 people in the other car (the driver and her large son) hit their heads on the windshield, but they seemed to be fine as they wandered around and yelled at each about how angry the driver’s husband was going to be. The son was angry with me for some reason, but his mom kept telling him to shut up, which was a very good idea.
The other car (a small SUV) ran a stop sign and creamed us on the passenger side front corner. I never saw it until Treela yelled, and then it was too late. I locked up the brakes, she hit us and then our rear-ends slid into each other. I’d guess she was doing about 40 miles per hour, I was going about 30.
That everyone’s okay is the important thing, but I just talked to the shop manager and my beautiful car (The Grand Marquis) is most likely a total loss.
Frame’s damaged, radiator’s leaking, and 7 panels (doors, fenders, Etc.) are in need of repair or replacing. I’m really sad about that. I loved that car.
Luckily, I did carry collision coverage, and I won’t have to pay a deductible. I’ll be car shopping again later this week, so keep yer eye’s peeled.
I’ll be looking for something in the $2,000 ballpark.

Damn!
I’ve always thought as I’ve seen assmunches running lights and stop signs, how badly I’d beat on the idiots if they wrecked my car and/or loved ones. Did the law get involved? Get this menace some justice?
MAN!
I’m so glad everyone’s okay, and I’m so sorry about ye olde Marquis. She was a beautiful bastard. How perfect was it, though, that when I opened this thread, the quotebag quote that came up was Herb’s comment about the frisbee golf sticker screaming “I’ve got a pound of chronic in the trunk!”
Give my love to yer ladies and tell them I hope they feel better soon!
Will do, thanks Dingey!and
Will do, thanks Dingey!
and yes, the cops showed up, as did an ambulance and a fire dept Veh. not sure if she was ticketed, not even sure I care. I was angry, but now I just sort of hope she’s okay, and that her husband didn’t beat her or anything.
YIKES!
Sounds super scary , so I’m glad everyone is pretty much OK save for some stiffness. Oh, crap, what am I thinking, did I just write “stiffness” in a response to Tree?!? Stand by with the rimshot… CRIPES, now I wrote “rimshot”… signing off now before the entendres get worse!!!!!
Wow let me also say that I
RIP Grand Marquis
On Thanksgiving, I almost brought your new car up to my sister and her boyfriend, who are big disc golf enthusiasts (Kap’n Jr got a set of discs herself that day) (by the way, nobody has to watch what they say about disc golf around me), just to let ‘em know that you were representin’ for the sport, if not necessarily playing it.
Red runners are pet peeve #2 or #3 on my all-time peeve list. As a frequent pedestrian, I can’t keep track of how often people run reds, certainly with intention. How much faster are they really getting somewhere? 30 seconds? 15? How many times have I been driving behind someone who runs a red, and I end up right behind ‘em again at another stoplight a few miles later?
Years ago, on Politically Incorrect, Trace Adkins suggested that law-abiding drivers should get out of the way of those drivers who were more aggressive, and even tried to justify red-running, to which Bill Maher responded, “so, for you, stop signs are more like a suggestion…”. I had a laugh, as well as more ammo against hat country, big-ass trucks, and, by extension, Republicans.
PS - missed functions as well, laid up all weekend, home right now trying to get energy up for evening shift… regret missing out, but would regret passing the crud around even more.
wheeewwww.
A couple of summers ago my wife was rear ended just down the street from our house. She and the boys and the babysitter were in the car. Babysitter’s mom is a co-worker and she called her mom when it happened and that is how I found out. Jen didn’t have a cell phone at that point (though she would probably have only told me when I came home. She’s famously non-nonplussed by those situations).Talk about your heart in the mouth scenario when I heard “your wife was in an accident…” Gulp. Then I heard “everyone’s ok…”
crash
I hope you and your girls recover quickly.

Ugh, that is so scary… I
car in flames
I’ll be keeping an eye on the news, but I bet I never find anything out, just like the early weekday morning a decade ago when CG and I watched someone drive their Chevette past us on Oakland at 50+ MPH, take a sharp left at the entrance of the psych hospital, and crash head-on into one of the trees flanking the driveway. You can see the huge patch devoid of bark on the tree’s trunk to this day, but I don’t know what happened to the driver.
Cars are scary.
I’m glad you and the lady

tried to upload an image from Saturday. didn’t look good.
Cripes!
I had a weird car incident on Oakland about 10 years ago. I looked in the rear view mirror and noticed this car FLYING down the road behind me, I knew if I didn’t pull over it would smash right into us. I pulled over, the car got to where we were, made a sharp left right into a tree in front of the psychiatric hospital. The car was going at least 50, possibly more. Karl and I ran into the hospital to have someone call 911 - never did find out what that was all about.
I know that is totally unrelated, but Becky’s post reminded me of it.
Apparently...
I relayed a story here that he posted at the beginning of his post - I didn’t read that part, only about the car on fire. BUT, it seems that remember the story the same way - that has to count for something, right?
Hope the ladies are
