Here is the book…

There ain’t gonna be no debate tomorrow, because of these left-wingers and their gotcha journalism.

that doesn’t seem fair and looks really biased; and the debates shouldn’t even be the slightest bit biased.

She’s black, too! We need a moderator who is a white hockey mom. Anyone else would just be biased and unfair.

Note that the black PBS lady probably thinks she’s better than Palin because Palin was an honest Joe Six-Pack sports announce, and not some elitist book-writing PBS lady.

And therefore, am not qualified to moderate the debate either, because I would be too smart and disgusted-faced. However, I have seen Canada before, and consider myself a foreign-policy expert because of it.

I love the blogs as much as any of you dudes, but check this out before you get all, "Oh, the debate is cancelled!".

…to avoid watching it.  I officially have complete election burnout.  I know who I’m voting for.  I don’t need to know what goes on between then and now, quite honestly, because it’s all just gonna be an aggravating dog and pony show.  The Republicans will pull a bunch of dirty tricks.  They may or may not have an effect.  Everybody will spend a lot of time arguing over whether or not they’re effective, and will get all worked up and pissy and loud.  I don’t need it.  If I could get the time off work, I would officially disappear for the next month until it all blows over.  DONE, I tell you, DONE!

It is pretty well-known

Submitted by The_REAL_Comptroller_Atkins (not verified) on Thu, 10/02/2008 - 1:49pm.

It is pretty well-known that Gwen Ifill is BFF with Condoleeza Rice, and she has been criticized for going easy on Rice in interviews regarding Iraq, the 9-11 commission, and other related topics.  I do not personally remember these interviews w/ Rice, but that is a critique I’ve read in the past couple days.  Anyone that watched PBS regularly would probably agree that Ifill certainly doesn’t come across as a liberal partisan by any means.

Even reading the title of the book, I don’t really see how that can be conflated to a "pro-Obama book".  I suppose it could be, but the title suggests a broader topic than "I <3 Obama".   It was no secret that this book was coming out when the debates were scheduled, and the McCain camp has not posed any formal opposition to her role as moderator.  It is only right-wing hack concern-mongers (e.g. Michelle Malkin) that are making an issue and pretending that there is an apparent card-stacking scheme against Palin in the works.

I read through a few links to conservative blogs and BBs that were linked on DailyKos and whatnot.  It seems there are quite a few comments saying something like, "Who the hell is Gwen Ifill?"  Here are all these accusations of what a partisan hack she is, but most of these people don’t even have PBS programmed on their cable boxes to even know who she is.  The best they may have on her is that she made Cheney adhere to the agreed debate format (time limits on rebuttals) during the 04 Edwards/Cheney debate she moderated.  I think is silly that this is now an issue only in the last two days before the debate happens, when it has been scheduled for weeks.

McCain cuts ‘n’ runs from Michigan.

From the link:

In a sign of how rapidly the race is shifting right now, Evan Tracey, who tracks national ad buys for the Campaign Media Analysis Group, tells me that as of Tuesday, McCain was outspending Obama in Michigan. Now McCain is apparently pulling out.

Separately, it’s surprising that this didn’t get any national coverage to speak of, but the McCain campaign also announced yesterday that he’s adding a dozen new offices in Virginia, where Obama has gained in recent days. If nothing else, Obama is forcing McCain to spend more money in a state that hasn’t voted for a Dem for president for 44 years — LBJ in 1964.

Big things happening.

I don’t know if I’ve talked to all of you about the fact that I have a really psychotic coworker who is driving us all batshit crazy.  I seriously think she’s bipolar. Throw right-wing and evangelical Crxtian on top of that and you have some idea of what we’re dealing with. She just asked me if I was going to watch the debates tonight.  I told her that I sincerely hope not, and that I’m burned out on the election.

Oh,me too, oh, me too,” she says.  "But I am curious to see how she handles herself tonight."

I just responded by saying something about my husband being busy tonight, and he’s really the political junkie in the house so I m ight get to miss it.   OH!" she says. " I’m a political junkie, too.  I’m a news junkie.  FOX news.  I hope they’re fair and biased like they say they are, and are giving me both sides objectively.”  Then, she WAITED.

I did not rise to the bait. "Yeah, well, goodnight," sez I.  She is infamous for casting about looking for fights, and since she’s one of those people that doesn’t listen to anybody’s responses to her questions unless they’re the exact answer she was looking for, I figured it wasn’t worth it.  Especially at 4:55 pm on a work day.  Cripes.  Baiter.

Mixed feelings

I have mixed feelings about that, really.

Not in the case of our "leaders" though. if you won’t make the effort to say something correctly, when you know damned well that you’re saying it wrong in front of the whole world? Well fuck you.

But, I have family members that have trouble with certain words, common words, even though they really are quite intelligent. I assume they were just never corrected. Once you’ve got your speakin’ words all figgered out, well, anybody ever try to stop saying something that you know is annoying? Like, you know, like, um, like, "doncha know," or, like, "Really?" "Really? You really think that. Really. Really. You’re REALLY going there."

Anyway, (that’s one of my words) I don’t think much about that most of the time. I’ll correct them if I think it matters. If I think they might embarrass themselves. LIKE IF THEY WERE TRYING TO BE THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES AND THE WHOLE FUCKING WORLD WAS GOING TO LAUGH AT THEM!

Now is time for Palin to hide out again from that mean old GOTCHA mainstream (left) media.  Biden’s totally a politician and he’s not somebody that I’d want my Grandma dating, but didja see the vindictive smarmy bitch-face that Palin used to deliver some of her OOOOOH-BURNS?  A little more humility would have been good.  I’m sure we could see Vicksburg’s equivalent of Palin tonight riding The Wild Bull with her qualifications on display.

Palin seems likeable enough but the gosh, hayseed shucks bullshit outta her mouth last night was laughable and totally fake to me.  That means that she’s a real person to Fox News and talk radio and Mega McChurches now with more coffee shoppes and security guards!

Instead of sullying Heart’s "Barracuda" the Republican’s should use GG’s "Bite It, You Scum" for Palin’s rallys.

Now I did agree to stay away from this section of the board, to keep things calm around here, but sometimes I just cant keep quiet and have to say whats on my mind so here goes.

I hear Sarah Palin was making remarks about Barak Obama saying his political career started in the living room of a terrorist.

I wanted to scream: I will say this loud and clear:  BILL AYERS IS NOTTERRORIST.

Now I dont agree with everything the Weather Underground did, but at least they had the balls to stand up to this government and try to change things.  I wish more people today were like that.  Also I hear all these asshole journalist saying Ayers should apologize.   Are you fucking kidding me!??!?!?!?!?!?!

Apologize.

This government should apologize to him and to the Weather Underground

This government should alos apologize to anybody who was in the SDS

This government should apologize to the Black Panther, to anybody who was ever in the civil rights movement, to anybody whose life got fucked over during that McCarthyism bullshit, and to the American Indian Movement.

Alright thank you for letting me vent, and if anyone took offense or what I said the wrong way, let me now offer my sincerest apology.

I would say that setting bombs, even though they weren’t trying to kill anyone, was a bad thing.

But I agree, the guy is no terrorist. Was he a terrorist 40 years ago? That’s up to debate.

But Palin and McCain would like you to believe he IS a terrorist. This Chicago college professor.

This is a rare case where I’ve been able to actually talk to the subject of controversy. Ayers did tell me that he now things blowing shit up wasn’t a good idea. But at the time the protesting in the streets just wasn’t working.

But see what we’ve been saying? See what McCain and Palin are saying? See their game of distractions?
