Who is sending those?

Submitted by Angie on Mon, 09/29/2008 - 11:34am.

And to whom are they sending them? Every single U.S. resident? Or did they get some left-wing mailing list? I have not and will not watch it, but it disturbs me that not only was I on their list (an Nathan, evidently, was not), but I was on their list with my full first, middle and last names, and my ZIP+4 ZIP code. Has anyone here watched that? Know the source?

You got it?

I heard that it was stuck in the Grand Rapids Press a few weeks ago.

Is there a return address? Any identifying info?

Angie's picture

Yes ...

Submitted by Angie on Mon, 09/29/2008 - 12:53pm.

There is lots of info that seems innocuous and/or unfamiliar. There are names of organizations, companies, film people, etc. If only there was some way I could look up those names and find information about them without, like, calling them … Like, some big repository of limitless information that is free and conveniently located … Oh! Microfiche, right!

Swing-state bastards! Here’s the scoop on the Clarion F*cks:

The DVD is being distributed as paid advertizing: “According to reports in the Huffington Post, 28 million copies of the film are being delivered this week. The DVD has already been inserted into copies of The New York Times distributed in Midwestern states. This weekend and next, it is slated to be distributed in many newspapers in the electoral battleground states of Ohio, Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania and Colorado, in addition to North Carolina.” (Muslims Rap DVD in Advertiser, Tim Funk)

“Funding is coming from a New York-based group called the Clarion Fund, a shadowy outfit whose financial backers are unclear. … Although supposedly a 501 c(3) non-profit, this week the Clarion Fund’s website featured an article supporting John McCain.” (Pro-McCain Group Dumping 28 Million Terror Scare DVDs in Swing States, Eric Ose …’

I thought it was a cologne sample

I just noticed our copy on the counter with the other mail - addressed to CG, three names as well as 9-digit too. Immediately was pissed off about it, and was glad/pissed to see more about it here… no doubt the spray attack could be linked to bullshit propaganda like this DVD.

Since the film is from 2005, I had to see if there was any info on IMDB… not much, but lots of forum discussion the last few days… leaves Choke in the dust… most people commenting on how pissed they are, too.

Now that precedent is set for a film with images of unsimulated and graphic violence to be sent unsolicited through the U.S. mail to millions of people, does that mean we’re gonna start getting free porn flix in the mail, too?

I got that today

And at first, I thought, what the f*ck? Why would I want to watch this? Then I thought, does this have a virus? So I tossed it in the garbage. Upon reading all this, I dug it out of the garbage, flicked a leaf of lettuce off it and am currently typing and staring. Who would send this and why? FEAR propaganda, folks. Keep the masses afraid and ignorant. Bless us, “we ain’t that stupid no mo”. I also thought it strange that the address was my full name. Is it okay to play? Do you think upon playing that “they” have all your info? Or, more disturbing, do they already have it all? We are not free. I am blessed in that I have no money, so none to loose.

But not on your computer. Use a standard DVD player, and sit at least 10 feet from the TV. Wear a dust filter or full gas mask, and spray down the area with powerful disinfectants when done.

I got one!

Yesterday, there was some extra stiff bulk in my mail, so I knew it wasn’t just another Tuesday Morning sales circular and some Hungry Howie’s coupons. Sure enough, it was that DVD thing. The special preview 1-hour version. At first glance (before I actually read any words), I thought it was a promotion for some new National Geographic DVD series on “Religions of the World” or some Shiite like that. I kind of figured out the gist of it when I noticed that one of the alleged film festivals that had lauded it had the word “freedom” in the name.
I have not watched the DVD yet. I have about 400 hours of downloaded British and American television shows I’d rather get to first. If anyone wants to borrow it or poop on it, let me know.
