Definitely.
There’s a story in the collection "Brief Interviews With Hideous Men" called (at least I think) "The Depressed Person". Very accurately lampoons our self help-therapy obsessed culture.
What the HELL?! Suicides really infuriate me, especially when conducted by artists that I really admire. WHAT is that bad?! i can see if you’re diagnosed with a chronic wasting disease, or if you knew the world was going to end tomorrow and you didn’t want to watch it happen. Apart from that, WTF?!
I’m pretty sure people who are truly suicidal aren’t exactly "thinking straight." It’s why they eat a bullet rather than set up an appointment with Kevorkian.

That my friend is the nature of mental illness. Depression is a fucker. I have a co-worker here who is the most competent and together person in the world and when the demon hits this person can’t get out of bed, think straight, or anything really for a couple of months. It’s happened 3 or 4 times over the past 15 years. Scary. If only it were as easy as putting reason out there and cheering one up….

Sad
It’s sad. But I have to say, "Infinite Jest” drove me nuts.
DAMMIT!
I liked "Infinite
I liked "Infinite Jest"–footnotes and all.
Gimmicky, to be sure. But an impressive achievement.
it is not logical
