As per Kapn’s claim, I’ve removed this list. If for some reason it isn’t bogus, I will gladly re-post!

That can't be right!
This wasn’t even a children’s library, right? It’s a regular ol’ public library. This looks like a list of recommended reading for all ages — they’re mostly classics or so-called "modern classics." This looks like a list of "most-often banned books" that she unearthed from Wikipedia, then she buried some of her personal choices in there so she didn’t look dumb when she submitted it. Or, she thought she wouldn’t look dumb. I will pay $500 to the person who can prove to me that this jackass read even half of the books on this list. I can’t believe anyone in this day and age seriously wants the country to be run by someone who bans books. Today is my first day back at the library, and I’m nearly frothing, literally seeing in this room so many books on that list and imagining that crazy idiot strolling in here and pulling all those books off my shelves. Sexy librarian throwdown!
list is bogus
Believe me, no Sarah Palin fan here, but I’ve been watching this story very closely, and the list is bogus.
Original article about the original controversy that led to this brouhaha can be read here.
I think tests of loyalty are total bullshit, and Palin’s (and the Republicans’) penchant for demanding this of people who are supposed to be on a team should be the real issue anyone takes away from this story. Elected officials shouldn’t be going around demanding loyalty from anyone - they owe loyalty to those who elected them. They "serve", not "rule", no matter what they think, or actually do. And that’s why we don’t want her creepy type anywhere near the White House.
I've removed the list until...
If for some reason, it isn’t bogus, I will gladly re-post! I don’t want spread bum info.
list was good
I wasn’t interested in having the list pulled, QN! Good to be in the know about hoaxes (I’m sure you can name most of the “Paul is Dead” clues!).
The list is pretty representative of regularly challenged library books, which are noted yearly during the ALA’s Banned Books Week - which, coincidentally, is happening in two weeks:

Rhetorical
The list was not correct. But a story I read on ABC’s site, I think (I’m not going to link because I’m lazy and it’s late), concerned about a book on being gay and religious, or something. Palin’s nutjob preacher wanted the book out of the library. So she asked a purely rhetorical question, How can I get a book removed from the library? The word "rhetorical" was used in her defence, that I remember.
Any of you who work at the library, remember, if the mayor comes in and asks how he might go about removing a book, don’t feel threatened. It’s just a rhetorical question.
And she fired the librarian.
I'm still trying to figure out....
….why "A Day No Pigs Would Die" is on that list. Doesn’t seem like Republicans would have issues with a Shaker boy learning about the circle of life through the slaughter of his pet pig, right? Oh, wait….it also dwells on self-sufficiency and the importance of education. Them’s bad things because if you think about that stuff you might not buy too much shit no more and you a bad ‘Merican!
A cult!

At this point, most modern Christians probably think the Shakers were some kind of cult.
Too hot for Alaska

I know, Kapn! I just didn’t want to have the list associated with bum info. In fact, I wouldn’t doubt it if folks in the McCain/Palin camp leaked the bogus list just to divert attention away from the real story, which Criswell has linked to above.
If those folks want to live up in Alaska and have their little cultish communities where they hate on gays, so be it. But don’t come down to the contiguous 48, baby, and try to spread the same jive!
