The first debate is this Friday, Sept. 26, at 9 p.m. Supposed to last 90 minutes. I’m inviting youse guys over for a post-prandial viewing party. We can talk more about it Friday, if you want. Otherwise, here’s the thread for discussing the upcoming debates.

what's the standard?
ok, forgive my lack of caring in the past, but what’s the norm for VP debates? is one typical? or is this odd? either way, these will ALL be interesting… mainly cuz Obama can talk circles around the sloganist McCain…
What did the five fingers say to the face?
…SLAP!
I’d love to see something like that happen. But I won’t, so I’m going to see Charlie Murphy at the State Theatre Friday.
I will record the event, and watch it before any news source spoils it.
standard
Going back to Nixon v. Kennedy, when there was no VP debate at all, each election year had either two or three presidential debates and one vice presidential debate. The exception to this is the Reagan v. Anderson election, which had no VP debate. Looks like, unsurprisingly, the amount of debates increased as television got thought up and became increasingly popular.

zilch
looks like all we’ll get is a vp debate, IF that… as McCain is most likely cancelling to "get back to washington" because of the economic crisis. feh.
McCain wants delay
"Republican John McCain says he’s directing his staff to work with Barack Obama’s campaign and the debate commission to delay Friday’s debate because of the economic crisis. …"
Updates to breaking newshere.
Obama: "The debate is on"
‘"The debate is on," a senior Obama campaign official told ABC News.’

Grampa Douchebag needs to
Grampa Douchebag needs to delay the debates so he can get his fucking lies straight about all his bestest buddies who helped de-regulate the SEC.
I’d like to ask McCain , "please explaining, how does $100 billion worth of bad housing debts turn into almost $1 trillion? An answer that contains ‘credit card late fees’ or ‘poor black people don’t know how to pay their bills’ will result in a slap from my pimp hand. An answer that contains ‘me and my buddies…’ will be met with 3 cheers of MATLOCK!"
I’m DVRing all of these debates since we’ll be in Memphis. I trust that I will be able to see gross and nasty lies in HD.
vote mccain now
things look great from way up here in the cockpit of my Hummer. fuck y’all!
'supsension'
There probably isn’t going to be a debate tomorrow because McCain has ‘suspended’ his campaign so he can ‘focus on the bailout’. Interestingly enough, the date now being proposed for the first presidential debate is Oct. 2, the date of the only VP debate. There are those saying that this whole ‘suspension’ business is so Sarah won’t have to be in a debate. Interesting…..

Debate Is On
Did anyone see David Letterman last night? He was to have McCain on. McCain bailed, told him personally that he had to go to the airport to get to Washington to save us all. So Letterman was on McCain’s case all night. Then he finds that McCain was actually being interviewed by Katie Couric. He goes to the feed of McCain being make-upped. “Hey, John! You need a ride to the airport?”
Palin v. Biden, this Thursday (tent.)
I know it may be a little late in the day for some of you, but it’s not for us! I’d be happy to have y’all over to watch the VP debacle, er, debate this Thursday at 9 p.m. Come as you are — Dr. Dentons are perfectly acceptable.
one can hope
palin’s getting ripped apart -finally- by a lot of her own team this week. I wonder if it’s likely she’ll "step down" thursday morning?
depends on the
depends on the sportscaster. she would have made a pretty good one!
