Please pardon my Spam, but…
It’s that time again, I need a car!
Looking to spend no more than $1000, but would LOVE to find one in the $600-$800 range.
Ridiculous? Maybe, but My last car cost $1000, and it lasted 4 years. Probably put another $1000 into it, which equates to a car payment of less that $45 a month. Plus, I don’t need to carry collision coverage on a car like that.
Who’s ridiculous now, huh?
So, if any of you have, or know of someone who has a car that I might be interested in, please let me know.
Thanks,
Tree Cheapsbeer

Treeze,Are you re-car-ing
Treeze,
Are you re-car-ing because of the faulty window?
I’ll keep mine eyes peeled.
Not really
Mostly it’s because it wouldn’t start on Saturday, and I don’t want to fix it.
I could probably get it running again, but I’ve been living with quite a few "quirks," but I’m tired of them.
Fixing them, even just the most annoying ones, would cost a hell of a lot more than I’ve already got into the car.
I’m looking for a few new quirks.
Got one!
1993 Grand Marque. V8, 23 MPG (ouch!)
It’s a Grampa car. I’m a Grampa.
Bought it from some rich kid. Amazing how clean it is. My Dad would even drive it!
Got the maintenance history book. Dealership maintained, Oil changed regularly for the last 7 years.
It’s really too nice for me. I’m thinking about trading it in on three $400 cars. I’d be set for the rest of my life!
Nice
Nice score, Tree.
Pretty "fast and furious" of you.
Have you thought about a hydraulics package? Maybe a competition manifold? Street that mufugga up, yo!
I have a Grand Marquis…
I have a Grand Marquis… 23mph my @ss, more like 19.5-20 and I don’t even drive it like a racecar. We drive the wife’s beetle together during the week for fuel savings, but still I do like the car. Congratulations, you have just become ‘invisible’ to most cops, unless it’s closing time at the bar.
what I really wanna know is...
… how’s the stereo system?
You would go there...
The CD/Radio doesn’t work. But…
About 3 years ago, someone broke into my car and tried to steal the radio. They didn’t get it, but they damaged the faceplate. It still worked, but the Insurance company bought me a new Pioneer CD/Radio to replace it.
It’s been on a shelf, still in the box, waiting for just such an emergency!
That’s awesome. Once
That’s awesome. Once someone tried to break into my car to steal my quality "Musonix" brand cassette deck… It seemed they had to leave right away because I found the knobs taken off the stereo and a pair of gloves on the seat. I was needing winter gloves and they fit really well.
On the hunt again
As most of you know, my Grand Marquis was destroyed a couple of weeks ago. I have been searching for another decent used car for more than a week now, but haven’t yet found anything.
I did look at a 97 Mazda Protoge yesterday that I would highly recommend to anyone under 6”1’, but I couldn’t actually sit upright in it. Seriously, if any of you is looking for a small car, this one seemed like an incredible find. Owned by a doctor who offered all service records, and actually had a “New Car Inspection” done on Monday so that he could fix any potential concerns and offer the paperwork as evidence of it’s reliability to any potential buyers. I called the shop while the it was still there and got the scoop on the car. I would have bought it, you know, if I wan’t a giant…
Anyway, I’m on the hunt again. Let me know if you have, or see a car that I might be interested in. $2000-ish, and preferably front wheel drive.
Wichard told me about your
Your mall cop car was truely awesome, sorry bro.
On the road again
Rolling in a 1994 Ford Taurus. Looks decent inside and out. Good tires, brakes, heat, decent stereo. Good enough.
Taurus!
I hope yours is just as tough but in much better shape.
It's my second one
Had a (96?) Taurus wagon once. It was ugly, but it ran good.
Seem to be pretty solid cars. This one did pretty good in the snow today, handled much better than the Grand Marquis did. I’d trade back though, if I could.
