So I got my car running again recently. It’s an older Oldsmobile. With a cassette player. Kind of back dated I know, but I grabbed a handful of old cassettes I had lying around for my listening pleasure and, well one of them was Television’s Marquee Moon. I admit I discovered Television rather late in the game but I instantly fell in love with that album. It was so nice to hear all those songs again…I wondered if the other Television albums are as good as Marquee Moon? Anyone got an opinion on this? I want to hunt them down if they’re worth having.

Rhino recdently put out a "Live AT the Old Waldorf—San Francisco 1978" that's pretty awesome!

I'm fond of the reunion LP they did in the early '90's.  It doesn't have the fire of their first (and parts of their second) or the live sets… no grandiose keyboards… no singalong backing vocals… it's a sparse but pleasant diversion, like the chill out after a crazy trip, whereas the originals ARE the crazy trip.

If you've been digging on the singular achievement of Marquee Moon, go for the live sets.

In some ways, The Soft Boys' Underwater Moonlight puts me in the same frame of mind as Marquee Moon - look, lunar connections!
