Is anyone of the K-College crew gonna go to homecoming.  I will be there this year (Oct. 20-22) and was thinking it would be great to see the LeppoFamily.  Friday night is the dinner night right?  N@ncy and M@rk P., you gonna be around?  There are plenty more K College alums on this forum, it is leaf truck burning season, and it would be good to see some folks.

Mons, you should skip over to Chicago on Saturday night and stop by GLONO's Black and Orange Ball.  The two bands on our label, Riviera and Quasar Wut-Wut, are playing along with headliners Healthy White Baby…

I miss Chicago, haven't been there since 1999.  But I will enjoy Kalamazoo that weekend, I haven't been there for a while.  And most of the Port Wine Lads will be there, but thankfull no instruments will be involved.  To say we would be rusty is an insult to rust.

WMU homecoming is 10/14. I haven't heard anything about a WIDR reunion yet. Hey lurkers, is there a WIDR reunion? I did get a lascivious hug from the young GM the other night, so maybe that's all there is.

Hey Mons, I think the 10/20 dinner might be extra fun. Because it's someone's actual birthday, and you just don't know what will happen. Or at least I don't, because it's my birthday, and no one will tell me, probably because nothing will happen and they're afraid I'll cry a little. No, not really, just trying to lure you in. Although I'm probably scaring everyone.

Thank you! Good night!

I might be exaggerating a little about the message of the hug. You know how I am. I was jealous that Blanket Michael Jackson got hers first….

Just like that Little Dirty Dub to pass it around like candy.  Here I was thinking that Beer + Impressionable Youth + Music + Dim Lighting + Hair Product = BMJ as Mrs. Robinson.

Is there anything going on next Saturday, WMU/WIDR homecoming or other events? Chimp and I are considering a trip to town since we haven't spent any quality time with you, our friends, since the Great Move of '06. Oh, and if we do come to town can we stay at your place?

On an exciting note - Tree will be in close proximity of us this week! I look forward to spending time with the ol' conifer. Perhaps we can find the mythical great commercial tree noted in the Illinois state song:

From a wilderness of prairies, Illinois, Illinois,
Straight thy way and never varies, Illinois, Illinois,
Till upon the inland sea,
Stands thy great commerical tree, turning all the world to thee, Illinois, Illinois,
Turning all the world to thee, Illinois.

Hey. This looks too similar to a verse from the Michigan state song:

A song to thee, fair State of mine,
Michigan, my Michigan;
But greater song than this is thine,
Michigan, my Michigan;
The whisper of the forest tree,
The thunder of the inland sea;
Unite in one grand symphony
Of Michigan, my Michigan.

Submitted by Herb Tarlick on Mon, 10/09/2006 - 8:22am.

The dubster was in a happy mood when I was talking to him at the Tuna Fest too.  Turned out it was a pretty OK show.  Enjoyed both Spank Rock and Rjd2.

I just sent J%son H#ll an e-mail asking if anything at all has been set up for WIDR alumni.  I'm guessing that it hasn't since there is nothing up on the website www.widralumni.org and I am thinking that assignments were made (i.e. J#son is no longer in charge) and not followed up on.  If that is indeed the case that is a major disappointment.  I did suggest to J%son that I could help him in at least planning some type of informal gathering….

Why THIS weekend?  WHY?  This weekend is the wedding of M*rtijn V*ltman and Nikki Stixx in Deeeeeetroit.  A number of us will be travelling across the mitten for that event.  Dunno who will be around Friday night—Dusty had originally been talkinga bout going over Friday night, but I haven[t heard anything more on that front, so we might see you then!

That's cool the RJD2 set was good. I saw him a few years ago at the Bling Pig. He did a solo set that was super sweet. Then he DJd for El-P (that's El Producto not Emerson Lake and PowellPalmer) and Mr Lif later in the show. He reminds me of a more hip hop DJ Shadow.

 Who else played Tuna Fest?

Who got put in charge of the WIDR Alumnus Group? Who was doing it last year? I remember stumbling in, fresh from a party, dressed as an alien, Rick B***z** spinning records at that one brewhouse, and then stumbling back out. I’ve heard of nothing, not even an oldies radio show, happening this weekend.

Was there a good crowd at the Tuna? We wussed out. We were tired, ill, too old, boohoo.

Yesh, I guess we'll put it off until the 27th when we're going to De-twaaah for the movie. I'm assuming that some of you who might actually be in the film will be making the trek to Detroit, too, no?

I heart how the pic of F&M on the film's website is of Snarling Freddy with soft focused, cupcake suit wearing Nat smiling in the background. Perfectly beautiful.

Crowd at the Tuna was good.  About 400 I would guess.  Yes Rjd2 is kind of like the DJ Shadow that did the album 'Endtroducing'.  He is not like the DJ Shadow that did crappy collaborations as UNKLE and with crappy hip-hop artists and who played booty rap in GR.  Seeing Rjd2 finally erased the memory of just how shitty the DJ Shadow I saw was.  Just like Spank Rock obliterated once and for all the memory of a very stale live De La Soul.
