The Sinatras @ Old Hat Brewery

Sad to say I got a bad code id mah node. Thought I could get out Friday, but could not. Spent the weekend blowing my nose and playing Spore, where my new creation, the Bad Kitties, massacred all creatures and took over the planet Humanahumanahumanahumana. Much Nyquill and Psuedophed drove this action. But I had no real fun. I wanted to see the bands do their rock and roll.

An excellent show.  The Sinatras were in peak form.  I think they are now in what I will call the ‘Coltrane ‘64’ part of their career in which nearly every song goes into a noisy yet beautiful improvisational section, being stretched almost to the breaking point and at the last minute reined in.   The sound itself blew me away.  The unmiked drums,  Ron’s new rig (which just barked), and Karl on the Kramer bass had a clarity and power that simply was phenomenal.   They really are one of this earth’s great power trios. 

I also enjoyed MissGuyDid.  Lots of heart.  They made me smile.

I just don’t have words for how great Friday was.  Many thanks to the Sinatras for letting us open for them.  Playing, hanging out with old friends, ugly sweaters, rim shots and peanuts themes.  I know I spoke briefly to the Kapn about this but I sometimes feel rather spoiled being surrounded by so many creative people who are not only very tallented, but also great fun to be with and decent people too boot.  Thanks Kapn, Tree and Dusty for making our night, and thanks to everyone else for sharing it with us.

Big T is pretty good, Now that my Mother is living in Lawton, we eat there every couple of months which is a lot considering how rarely I dine out.

By the way I thought I would mention.  I made a CD for a friend of mine and put “Sense” on it.  She had never heard of yall and really liked the song.  Anyhow on another forum I posted the Sinatras show from Kraftbrau a couple of years ago, and she really liked “Heartstopper”, so I got you guys another fan.  Just thought I would share that.
